I’m undecided

difference between swaddlers, sensitive, baby dry, and cruisers

What is the difference between your baby dry diapers, pampers swaddlers, pampers swaddlers sensitive, and cruisers? We have been using the pammpers swaddlers sensitive and I am trying to figure out if we could benefit from switching to one of the other kinds you offer.

  • I have used pampers swaddlers on my 3 month old son most of his life. He got a really bad diaper rash that I couldn't get rid of a few months ago. I had just started using some diapers I had been given at my shower. When I thought of it and changed his diapers back to the pampers it cleared up in a few short days. I amthinkinf of chaining him to the baby dry diapers but I am concerned they may not be as soft. He is about in a size 3 and I can't find the 3 swaddlers at most places.

  • I’m unsure
Hello, I just checked the site http://www.pampers.com/en_US/diapers-... and still have some questions about the difference between the swaddlers and baby dry diapers. I am a dad so I need to figure out the difference in simple terms, the site is great but honestly it seems like mostly marketing differences. The way I read the site is that the baby dry ones would be for something like an overnight diaper and the swaddlers would be more like a daytime one? Additionally do both of these come with the wetness indicator? My baby girl is 6 days old and we got some pampers from the hospital with the wetness indicator and we love that feature but dont know what ones we will use when we run out of those.

Congratulations Paul! How exciting to have a newborn in the house.
We have had so many parents say how much they like the wetness indicator of the Swaddlers; I am having my first baby this summer so I'm excited to use the Swaddlers too.

Both diapers are great and will keep your baby dry; however, for a newborn, I would stick with the Pampers Swaddlers. Besides the benefit of the wetness indicator, these diapers have adjustable diaper straps that can overlap if needed. These features will allow you the ability to fasten the tapes on top of each other to get that snug fit your new baby may need. The Swaddlers also have the umbilical cord notch.

You may want to introduce the Baby Dry once your little girl is a little older and has grown some. And you are right; I always suggest the Baby Dry for nighttime wear when you may need something with a little more absorbency. They do not have the wetness indicator. :(

I hope this helps. If you have other questions, let me know!

  • Paul, I've been searching for an answer to the same question. What I've discovered is the regular swaddlers do not have a wetness indicator. The SENSITIVE swaddlers do have a wetness indicator. These are the best diapers. We used the swaddler sensitive from newborn to size 2. However, you do get less diapers for the same price as the regular swaddlers. So, as your child grows it might be a good idea to switch to the regular swaddlers to get more diapers for your money. We are now using the baby dry at night for our 12 month old, since he now sleeps about 10-12 hours at night. We are running into a problem as he moves from size 3 to size 4. Pampers does not make a swaddlers in size 4, so we are going to have to experiment with the other styles. I really wish the pampers website pointed parents in the right direction with specifics on when we should switch styles. I love the swaddlers and don't want to change.

  • My son is 4 months old and uses the Swaddlers (it was the first diaper the hospital staff put on him). He has used the Baby Dry diapers that my mother-in-law puts him in but I do not like those. I don't think they absorb as well as the Swaddlers. He sleeps through the night and I only use the Swaddlers. They have them in size 3 at BJ's (but he still wears a size 2). He will be switching to the Cruisers when the time comes (when he wears a size 4) because they are the most similar to Swaddlers (just not as soft - which I hear Pampers is changing to make them as soft). Hope this helps! :)

  • Do the Sensitive diapers have dry max in them? and also, does that mean no mesh liner on the inside.. and also, does the padding not go all the way up the back? Cant find a newer box of the Cruisers, so looking for something close to the newer version.

  • well i noticed when i click the picture of the sensitive diaper, it shows a mesh liner as well as a urine indicator. I have heard that size 4's no longer have the mesh liner. so if it does not, does it have a regular liner, and does it go all the way up the back?

The swaddlers are for pretty much immobile babies. The cruisers are for when they are more active. My friends 4 month old wears a 3 swaddler, and my 1 year old wears a 3 cruiser...

The cruisers are made new now though, they are super soft like the swaddlers and have pretty much the same features minus this inner mesh lining. That is in the swaddlers bc little babies have runnier poop from formula ect.

The baby dry are just their basic diaper and the cruisers and swaddlers are their supreme diaper. The baby dry are not as soft, they are a little thinner. My daughter has worn them a few times and they worked great for her--i just love a more top of the line diaper like the cruisers, mainly bc of the blanket softness they offer.

really they are all good diapers. If you son is in a size 3 and mobile, i would def. try the cruisers. you wont be dissapointed.

  • Hi, My baby is growing out of her size 4 Swaddlers Sensitive diapers. The only problem is there isn't a size 5 in Swaddlers or Swaddlers Sensitive. We tried Cruisers but they aren't as absorbent. Any suggestions?

Pampers, please make a chart of your diaper types (Swaddlers, Sensitive, Cruisers, Baby Dry, etc.) vs the features each has (quilted softness, wetness indicator, Dry Max, mesh liner, absorbency length percentage, overlapping tabs, stretchiness in which directions, tab length, bulk, etc.).

This seems like a no brainer, yet nowhere on your site can I easily distinguish between the diaper features per type. In fact it is like you purposely do not want to let us know the secret for some crazy marketing idea.

I shouldn't have to scour the web for the difference between swaddlers and cruisers and baby dry. Most of the information is from Moms responding to other Moms in Mom community forums or on Amazon review pagers. And even then you have to be sure the check the dates because Pampers changes the diaper features every now and then.

PLEASE PLEASE just post a chart with current helpful feature differences! We all want to know. And it is very frustrating that Pampers doesn't have such a comparison chart.

    • I don't understand why such info is not on your site, either. We're not asking for ingredients or trade secrets here! LOL I would just like to know what the features of each diaper are from the manufacturer...not just other parents opinions and speculation.
    • The reasons pampers does not offer a comparison chart are simple.
      1. Pampers want you to read thru all the marketing mumbo jumbo, to re-enforce the subconscious notion that how great their products are. If comparison chart exists, consumers will just read that and no more, defeating the marketing compaign.
      2. Confused consumers are more likely buy the wrong product and leave some products unused and wasted. This increases the sales.
It is nothing personal, just a business decision to maximize corporate profit. Get over it.

Why is this website the worst ever? A person comes to pampers.com to learn about the diapers. I can never discern the difference between the 15 varieties of diapers. What is the difference between swaddlers, cruisers, baby dry and extra protection? Instead of useful diapering info, there are tons of links about things like epidurals (can't I find that info EVERYwhere else?) P&G- stick to what you do. PLEASE!

Does anyone else think that the Baby dry diapers feel like they have sand in them on the around the outside lining? This is the second box I have bought that they have felt like that. I usually buy the Cruisers so I am wondering if this is normal for the Baby Dry before I return them??? Thanks

We used swaddlers sensitive up to size 3. Experimented with baby dry and cruisers for sizes three and four, but i think the baby dry is a better product. The cruisers are engineered to be more snug in the contact areas, but baby dry seemed to keep her drier withoit accidents. Shes very active, and has been walking since month 9. Even before when she refused to crawl and walked on her hands and feet the baby dry performed better. Shes now in a 5 and she is having her first birthday tuesday. Hope this can help someone.

  • Hi I have an 18mos old who has very sensitive skin, I have always used cruisers and/or sensitive. When she spends time with her father he uses Baby Dry and Huggies Snug Dry and she ALWAYS gets a diaper rash. Is there something different in the Baby Dry to give the baby that "dry effect" that may irritate some babies bottoms?
    • There is something they use in them called "dry max" that I avoid like the plague. It has been well documented of all the reports of some babies having sensitivity issues with diapers with that dry max ingredient. There are baby dry diapers that DO NOT have dry max technology. It has a little half moon and says something about 12 hours of protection. Those are the ones I use with no problem, hope this helps.

I was using #3 Swaddlers and my 8 month old was dry most mornings. I saw the baby dry and got a box of those instead thinking they'd be great night time diapers and you got more of them for a few more dollars. Well, we paid more and got waaay less. The baby was soaking in the morning. We tried some of the diapers during the day and they leaked in just hours not the 12 hours advertised on the package. I am returning them to the store and getting the swaddlers. The baby dry were complete failures for us.

Is it me or is there a deliberate effort to confuse consumers on Pampers brand diapers? There are so many options and understanding which one to choose is confusing.

I see several people have asked for this and in the first few postings that part of the question was ignored. Then I see a link to a general Pampers site which isn't so helpful.

Only thing on that site that's mildly helpful is the online tool which helps you choose a diaper. Once again, however it's misleading. The tool provides no guidance as to why it made a recommendation, and/or what features are so great about its /recommendation versus another.

So Pampers/P&G here's what would make your consumers (and potential customers) happy. Lay out a simple table with the following:
-Pampers Brand name (swaddlers, cruisers, etc)
    -Baby details (height/weight/age, etc)
-Primary use of diaper (overnight/day time, etc)
-Extra feature (2x absorbency, wetness indicator, etc)

I know the brand managers spend quite a bit of time in business school, how about a little amount of time listening to your customers?!

OK, so obviously Pampers doesn't really care that we continue to be confused by their product branding, otherwise they would have answered the questions or put up the SIMPLE AND INEXPENSIVE chart addition to their website.

We have found the perfect solution to the confusion. We switched to Huggies. Awesome product, no confusion on which type/size will best fit your needs.

I too think it's a little ridiculous that I have to scour the internet to find out the differences between the product offerings. I should easily be able to make a decision on which line best suits my needs at point of sale. Instead, I have to do additional research online only to find the differentiation isn't even outlined on the product page! P&G- if you read this, please take heed and update your messaging. I mean, we're talking diapers here- not $50k luxury vehicles. It shouldn't be that complicated to understand the differences between these products.

  • This may help:

Start out with Swaddlers...these are good for NB to 3. Then once they start moving switch to Cruisers which is from 3 to 7. If they have a rash or other issues, switch to Swaddlers Sensitive which is hypoallergenic and has aloe.

Then for overnight when you have overflow issues try Baby Dry for night (1-6) or use Extra Protection which has 25% more absorbancy than Baby Dry.

Then there are the Easy Ups when it is time to do potty training

And for wipes, in order of sensitive to harsh: Sensitive, Natural, Baby Fresh
