Has anyone heard of the pampers cruisers causing chemical burns when the babies urine ph is combined with whatever they use to keep baby dry?

Hi Colleen! Thanks for stopping by to ask this question-I want to assure you that this is absolutely not true and our diapers are 100% safe. We would never put anything in our diapers that are harmful to babies; it's our job to keep them safe and comfortable! Please let us know if you have any other concerns.

    • My baby has burns from HUGGIES. I didn't sue, throw fits, take to the internet, and act pompous. I CHANGED BRANDS!!! To Pampers, oddly enough, because they were the ONLY diaper that didn't do it. Try gripeing less and acting more. It helps....

Thanks for your support Dana! I'm sorry to hear that you baby had to go through such an awful experience but I'm happy that Pampers agree with your little one's skin!

well colleen if you call customer service, they will tell you that your child is allergic or that you are neglectful...at least that's what I got when I called...so you should take that and reassure yourself that the company is not at fault and everyone needs to stop pointing the finger at them and start pointing it at yourself for all these women being such neglectful mothers...
This company is a joke... & their customer service is thee worse I have ever came across, and that includes when you get telemarketers that speak broken English.

Darcie-I am very sorry to hear this happened to you. That does not sound like our customer service at all and I would like to hear more about your experience so that I can help. Can you please email me at pampers.im@pg.com and reference this post?

I look forward to hearing from you.

  • My daughter is having the same issue with a chemical burn. I'm certain of it. It's not a rash. It's a burn. It started out looking like a rash but turned into a worse. And it only started one we used the pampers baby dry.

    • Earth's Best and Seventh Generation have "all natural" diapers. I've never tried them but those are the two I know of that are all natural. You can always go the cloth diaper route. I've never tried that either but, with all this going on I'm thinking WAY outside of the box.

Please post your stories and your photos on this page so that other people who are seeing the same thing on their child know exactly what is happening. Since I've posted the links to this page and another mommy message board so many of my friends have said that they saw the same thing on their child and didn't know what was wrong, but as soon as they switched diaper brands it went away.

  • I love pampers brand that is all I buy
I did try huggies and they always seemed to leak but I have had the same type of chemical burn on my son. I didnt make a connection to the pamper till I started to do resesrch on what I was seeing on his bottom. I am a stay at home mom and on top of changing his pamper so I know it cant be that he is dirty for a period of time. This makes me very concerened as a mom I want the best for my child and I thought pampers was that but I might do a little study of my own and switch to another leading brand and see if this occurs. I rather that his pamper leak then his pamper cause him discomfort and pain.

    • they keep taking down my coments about my grandson looking like this .
    • My daughter in law bought the Pampers cruisers last week for my granddaughter. Now she has a horrible reddened and burned bum. Was not that way prior to wearing the pampers. We have since switched to another brand. Horrifies me that all these little children have to go through this.

My daughter is starting to show signs of a chemical burn, too. Like someone else said, it starts out looking like a rash but after days of treating it with diaper rash cream it's only getting worse. Not to mention, this weekend I was told that my niece got a chemical burn, too. They have since changed to Huggies and I've got to say, I'm probably going to do the same. If a product gives me a rash or a burn or discomfort, that's one thing, but when my daughter is in pain and screaming and crying because she's hurting I'm going to take action. This is ridiculous! It cannot be a coincidence that this is happening to so many people. You at Pampers had better handle this issue because I know I'm not the only mom out there that is flat out MAD that this has happened to my child. I don't care about money, lawsuits, or any of that but I care about the comfort and safety of my child and everyone else's. FIX THE PROBLEM NOW!

After reading all of these horror stories from these moms and hearing on the streets about the problem with a chemical burn from pampers cruisers I suggest you (Pampers Co.) do some intense research and advertise that you are working hard to find the solution to the problem or you will find yourself yet another company that goes out of business. You should know that if there is one thing you do not mess with it is a mama and her baby. Fix the problem or at least act like you are looking into it instead of simply saying, "we would never put anything bad in our diapers"! No duh, no one is saying you intentionally are trying to hurt babies but you can not just have a PR rep glorify Pampers; some research has to be done as to why this is happening. I am going to the local news cast such as help me howard on channel 11....perhaps a little TV broadcast will light a fire...well you get it. Let's find solution to this problem and work together instead of ignoring it.
    Thanks:)

I hear what you are saying Colleen and I want to share a link with you that you may find informational in regards to our diapers and dry max.http://www.pampers.com/dry-max
    • That's just a bunch of the same old BS with some added "This is what a diaper rash looks like" - seriously? Do you honestly think moms don't know what the difference between a diaper rash and a BURN look like?! Or that a pediatrician knows the difference? Are you guys really in this much denial? Or do you just like calling moms liars and neglectful?? Because that song and dance is getting old and just making people madder. I've worked in customer service pretty much my entire life and I understand loyalty to the company you work for but if I saw this problem coming up this often, this way I'd bring it to someone higher up and complain. If nothing would have happened I would have to step away from that company. It's called integrity. I have it. Do you guys?

I have to say I'm a little relieved to find out my daughter was not the only one suffering from this chemical burn. I have since changed diaper brands and have not had any issues. Her burn is now gone, it's turning into a scar now, but at least she's not in pain. I have told many friends and posted all over facebook for other moms not to use the pampers baby dry or the cruisers, and have posted my daughters pictures of her burns and they are all switching or aren't even considering using them.
You need to get this problem fixed now! Cause there could be some child out there who's burn is worse than my daughters or other parents. Fix it now! Or at least advertise that you have heard you are having issues with them again. This is not an old rumor anymore! It is happening. FIX IT!

Well, "Ellen" keeps taking down my posts because they "don't allow links to outside sources" (I bet it would've stayed up if it were a pro-Pampers link) so I'll put it to you guys this way:
if you're on Facebook search for "Moms Against Diaper Chemical Burns" and share your stories. They may be able to squash what I say here because it's harmful to their PR but they can't shut me down on Facebook. And if they do, I'll go to local media and so on and so forth... When it comes to my kid and other people's kids I'm going to do whatever it takes to keep them safe if I can.

No links this time, nor is it a duplicate, no legitimate reason to take it down this time...

Just wanted to touch base with everyone and make sure you had a chance to get in touch with us. We really want to hear from you. My direct email is: pampers.im@pg.com so feel free to use that if you prefer. I'd really like to understand more about what's going on with your baby and try to help.
    • I'm going to the local media with this. I'm tired of being told "our diapers are 100% safe" or hearing that it's a "rash". And, no, I do not want to talk to any of your "representatives" who are apparently pod people because they literally all use the same line "I assure you our diapers are 100% safe" right before they ask me to give them a call to "talk about this". Keep, basically, calling moms all over the country liars and you're going to have a whole bunch of ticked off moms. And I think we all know that there is nothing more fierce than a mama bear protecting her cubs. By the way, that "rash" that my daughter got from your diaper went away after we changed her to Luvs. Quite a coincidence, isn't it?! Hmmmm...

To all the people out there that don't realize that they JUST recently switched the way their diapers were made you're an idiot. I have used pampers on my daughter since day one, she is now 15 months old and JuSt started having a problem with the last box of cruisers I bought. As soon as I opened the box I knew something was different! The burn all over her butt and private area and legs is out of control! I'm on my way to the store to get a new brand now!! If any of you moms that have switched have a recommendation it would be greatly appreciated! (:

    • I use luvs a lot, or the parent choice diapers. Might not be a name brand but it works great. Or the sams club Kirkland brand. Get a lot for really cheap too.
    • All moms who have an issue write or email Ellen -- I know moms who have - if she gets lots of info she most likely will check into it

I have been using Pampers cruisers for the past 2 years and never had a problem until I opened my most recent box (which I noticed has a new Sesame Street design). My son has a horrible chemical burn from the diapers and has been in severe pain for the past three days. I have switched to Luvs and put Vaseline on the burn. He is finally getting some relief. I am furious! How can this be happening?????

  • I have been using nothing but pampers for 5 years, starting with my daughter and now with my 18 month old son and have had no problems untill recently. I even doubted the mothers on facebook posting bad things about pampers because i have never had a problem and have sworn by them for so long. But With the last box of diapers I bought my son started getting red marks between his legs that are raw and painful. I don't know what else could be causing it but the diapers. I just bought a big box at sams club that I am going to take back and try another brand to see if it clears up. I hate to have to switch brands... I have never liked the other brands but I dont know what else to do. Hope they can fix the problem because I have another one due in february and pampers swaddlers are the only diaper I have ever trusted to put my newborn in.

    • Yep. And if I have to continue yelling until I'm blue in the face to get them to acknowledge it, I surely will... :) No kid should have to suffer burns and scars because of a diaper. It's absolutely ridiculous! Best of luck with your newborn and finding a good diaper out there!
    • Thank you :) hope your voice is heared and other moms having problems speak up too. I have a brand new box of 174 that I am just going to have to make diaper cakes out of haha.

  • I started using pampers when my oldest son was born 3 years ago, and same with my 13 mo. I had NEVER had an issue until about 2 weeks ago, then again today. I just realized that it was from the same box of diapers. I purchased two separate boxes, opened them and stored the individual boxes like I normally do. I switched last night to a new bag, and after changing my son during the night as well, there is a horrible bright red rash all over. Not like diaper rash at all, and he's so upset when I change him that he is screaming. He is the type of child that is always happy, and you normally would only hear him squealing in joy. This is not a coincidence. I have been very pleased, up until now, with the quality of Pamper products from swaddlers all the way to their easy-ups. I hope that Pampers stops covering their butts instead of addressing the problem. Something happened, period. This is no coincidence. Possibly some type of contamination? I live in Southern California, if anyone else might be in this area, there could be a link that way. All I know is that a company I trust to provide a safe product for my child, especially with how much we are paying for in diapers. My son is in size 5 now, so you can imagine it's not cheap. Please address the problem, this shouldn't have to turn into a lawsuit eventually, because what matters is that the company with the issue should be able to acknowledge it and fix it.

I recently was bought asdas little angels by my mother and something very similar happened to my little girl, but upon switching back to pampers it has cleared up, I hope the little ones that have these problems are ok, Iust admit it does now worry me :(
